Australian Macedonian Advisory Council Fact Sheet

The Australian Macedonian Advisory Council (AMAC) is a Hellenic-Australian non-profit political synergy, established for the welfare and advancement of the Greek-Australian community. It was formed in 2008 by Greek-Australian organisations, namely the Pan-Macedonian Association of Melbourne & Victoria and the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne & Victoria.
The chief concern of AMAC is to edify, preserve and promote the rich, multi-layered history and culture of Hellenic civilisation with specific emphasis on its Macedonian aspect. Working in unison with other Hellenic organisations like the Pan-Macedonian Association of Melbourne and Victoria, it works to address the Australian community on all matters Macedonian, systematically reinforcing and enlightening on the true nature of its ancient customs, language and religious leanings.
The primary goals of AMAC are summarised below:
1.      To network Greek-Australians and all Philhellenes
2.       To safeguard the Hellenic origin of the name, history and culture of Macedonia
3.       To correct falsifications and distortions made in regard to Macedonian history
4.       To promote the rich multi-layered stratum of Hellenic civilisation
5.       To strengthen educational and cultural ties between Greece and Australia
6.       To assist the Australian Government in the establishment of policies where the Greek-Australian community are concerned
7.       To liaise between the Greek-Australian community and its representing officials acting under a unified viewpoint on matters of public policy
